This collection consists of a sketch of the life work of William Donovan, Sr. written by William Donovan (June 20, 1917) and a sketch of the early life of William Donovan, Sr. (Sept. 21, 1928). The collection also includes a biographical letter, dated June 12, 1930 and a copy of a letter from William Donovan, June 22, 1930, to G.H. Harris. There are also several unpublished papers in the collection: Michigan pioneer railroads, Early trip to Houghton Lake, Our early water works, Brief history of the Board of Water & Electric Light Commissioners of Lansing, written by Jack Warren (Aug. 1946), Early days at Higgins Lake (Cottage Grove Association), and The Emeritus Club, U-M. The remainder of the collection consists of a recommendation of the purchase of the home of the late Charles J. Davis by the Lansing Common Council, a review of a paper published by Michigan Historical Commission in Michigan history, Oct. 1926 about Dr. Tappan, with William Donovan's reply in Michigan Alumnus, June 4, 1927, 2 reunion issues of Michigan alumnus for July 12, 1930 and July 11, 1932, and a broadside, South-East Vevay Lecture Association of Eden, Michigan, 1889.

Outside of museum holdings, no comprehensive survey and inventory of campus artwork had been attempted since 1937. With support from the Michigan Commission on Art in Public Places, 1,076 items were inventoried during 1988-1990. Additional inventory work was undertaken in 1997-1998 for risk management purposed, but generated little new information.
